Canada Post will open its first store in the Canadian market in the Pearson International Airport on Monday.
The new Canadian Post in Pearson, about 60 kilometres west of Toronto, will be the first major Canadian mail carrier to open a Canadian store in Toronto.
It will also serve as the company’s flagship Canadian location.
“It’s a very exciting opportunity to serve our customers, particularly those in the Greater Toronto Area, the Greater Vancouver Area and the Greater Montreal Area,” said David Buss, Canada Post’s chief executive officer, in an interview on CBC Radio’s Metro Morning.
“The more our businesses and our services can reach people and the more we can get out into communities and serve them, the better off we are going to be for our customers.”
The Pearson store will be part of the larger new Canada Post network of more than 400 stores in the U.S., Canada and Europe, with about $100 billion in annual sales.
The new CanadaPost store in Pearson will have 50 employees and include a cashier and a pharmacy.
Canada Post announced the new store in June, saying it would be built with an open plan.
The company said it was working on a project to open stores in Vancouver and Toronto in the next few years.
The Vancouver store is expected to open by the end of 2020.
