Spas are a big part of the Australian holiday scene, with hundreds of people taking part in annual events such as the Aussie Spas Association’s Spas Week.
However, when you’re in the country, what do you wear to get dressed up for your spa event?
Spas can also be a source of embarrassment and anxiety for your guests, so it’s important to ensure your guests are comfortable with the options available.
We asked Spas Australia’s manager, Kristy Kinsman, to share her tips for dressing up at a spa.
1.
Don’t overdo it Spas have become a popular destination for international travellers.
For some, this is a great opportunity to spend the weekend with family and friends.
However for others, such as people who don’t want to travel to other countries, this can be a challenge.
So how can you go about dressing up?
“For the most part, people are very aware of the fact that Spas require an array of accessories and clothing to suit them,” says Kristy.
“So there’s a good chance that you’ll need to mix and match your spas outfits to suit your comfort level.”
She also encourages you to be mindful of what you wear.
In addition, she says if you don’t have any clothing or accessories available to suit you, then consider choosing something that’s more casual, or a jacket that has a more streamlined silhouette. “
For example, if you’re a guy and your outfit has a skirt, you’re probably going to be a little bit too hot, so you might want to wear something a little less formal.”

Go for the relaxed look Spas also allow for a relaxed and comfortable experience for people who are just getting into the holiday season.
“If you want to go more formal, then you might have to dress a little more formally, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you need to go overboard.” “
It’s a uniform that’s simple and comfortable, with just a little colour or pattern on the shirt,” she says.

The traditional dress code for Spas is a white shirt with a dark blue stripe across the chest.
This has become an iconic and accepted look for the spas community.
3.
Make it simple Spas uniforms are designed to fit the body and provide comfort.
“One of the things that we really want for guests to feel comfortable with is that they’re comfortable in the dress they’re in,” says Kinsmann.
“When you go to a spa, there’s so much choice in what to wear.
So it’s really important to go with what you feel comfortable in.” “
There’s so many different styles of spas uniforms that people can wear.
So it’s really important to go with what you feel comfortable in.”
She recommends that people dress up in a way that doesn ‘fit’ with their attire.
“Think of it as a little mini-dress,” she advises.
“Also, make sure that you donât have too many layers on, because if you have too much you will look silly, and that will probably bother your guests. “
“This is one of the best things you can do for your comfort and your appearance.” “

Keep your hair in place When you go for a spa treatment, it’s also important to make sure you’re looking your best, says Kynsman.

“To make sure it’s appropriate, make a simple haircut and wear it as you go.”
5.
Choose your favourite colour to choose from There are so many colours that you can choose for your spa uniform, so choosing the colour that suits you best can be tricky.
“Depending on what spas are like, you might be in for different colours,” says Karen Kinswoman.
“A good rule is to go and have your hair done in a style that’s a little light, so that you have a bit of volume,” she continues.
